This class is designed for the entry level practitioner with a focus on self-defense techniques. Basic throws, striking, ground grappling and submissions are covered in this class. Classes are one hour long and follow four phases.

  1. Warm up: At the beginning of class we go through a series of stretches and calisthenics designed to condition the body for the application of BJJ techniques.
  2. Techniques: Students are taught and given time to practice the techniques of BJJ.
  3. Application: Students practice applying the techniques they have learned in controlled positional drills against an unwilling opponent that maximizes mat time. This is essential for development in BJJ.
  4. Cool down: Classes are ended with a light cool down and stretch.
